I will participate in a study that will investigate transplanted neurons in cortical slice cultures. The question is to which extent the transplanted neurons reintegrate into the already existing cortical networks. First there is an electrophysiological part in which the functional connections will be investigated by recording the neurons. During this procedure, the neurons will be stained. After that comes my part. I will look the the morphological features of the stained transplanted cells by reconstructing them in 3D. So I will make an 3 dimensional drawing of the neuron using a microscope which is connected to a computerized reconstruction system.
