Circus Der Gedachten
May 18th 2010 there was a national event (with Alexander Rinnooy-Kan and Robbert Dijkgraaf) exploiting sensory illusions in the Royal Circus Theater Carre'.
Frans Verstraten and myself (see below the viewers of the presentation with stereo-glasses) were involved in the choice and the design of the stimuli.
| Maartje de Jong, graduate student in our lab and truly beautiful dancer, made a cool and inspiring video where she "dances her PhD". She won the "Dance Your PhD contest 2010" in the category Biology!! With 22 competitors it was a hard competition.. Our lab sponsered this project. ....... So, what's your PhD research about? ...... Most of us take a deep breath and launch into an explanation. People's eyes begin to glaze over.... Not for Maartje.... She shows her Clip. Bessensap Film contest: Bessensap
is the yearly national meeting between science and press. It is organised
by NWO and the Society for Science Journalists. Out of 113 proposals
Robert Kerst and I have been invited to present a film titled "Een
vliegtuig besturen met je wilskracht” on May 26th 2008. We participated
in a contest for the best film and ours was ranked among the best three. View movie.
